What is a Family Bear?

Each handcrafted, collectible Family Bear is lovingly made from your fur coat, jacket or stole. Each finished heirloom Family Bear comes with its own colorful ribbon and locket with space for a picture of both gift-giver and recipient.

 How do I know my Family Bear will last?

Family Bears are specially lined on the leather side of the fur for long life and stitched with heavy-duty waxed thread by both furrier's sewing machine and glover's needles. Pawpads, footpads, ear inserts and muzzle are all durable leather as well. Long-life eyes and nose are child resistant with metal lock washers on acrylic studs; arms and legs are fully movable with low-friction nylon joints.

 How much will it cost to get a Family Bear made with my own fur?

$155. For 09" size
$175. For 12" size
$200. For 15" size
$225 For 17" size

Our cuddly bunnies are $50.00.

 Other factors to note in Family Bear cost

Highly recommended option: Internal "Bear Growler" (bear "growls" like a baby bear when tipped over) In 12", 15", and 17" only Add $10 per bear.

 Please note:
* Fox and chinchilla, please add $20 per bear.
* Thick leather furs such as Persian Lamb, Mouton, Goat, etc. are $265 for a 17" bear. Smaller sizes cannot be made in these furs.

 How do I determine the approximate size of the Family Bear that I want to have made up?

A typical mink stole with all fur in good condition, generally will produce a 17" Family Bear. It takes three-quarters of that same stole to produce a 15" Family Bear, one-half to produce a 12" Family Bear, and one-quarter to produce the typical 09" Family Bear.

Of course it's not always easy to estimate sizes until we've taken a look at your fur.  Once we have received your fur garment, we'll call you with condition, how many Family Bears we can handcraft for you, and the sizes.

 I want to order my bear. When can I expect it to come in?

An artist-made, huggable handcrafted Family Bear is the finest made and can't be rushed. Heavy nationwide demand and a rigorous art and craft show schedule create a usual turnaround time of six to ten weeks for completion of your Family Bear. Check with us for the latest completion time. Rest assured though, the wait is well worth it for a Family Bear that will be treasured time and again!

 How should I send the fur to you and what should I include?

You'll need to print out the Family Bear order form below with all of your information. In addition, please include check, money order or MasterCard/Visa credit card number and expiration date with your order. We recommend that you insure your fur garment when shipping to us.  Your Family Bears are returned to you via FedEx ground delivery.
